วันก่อน Anand โพสต์ในบล็อก Inside Windows Live Messenger ว่าไมโครซอฟท์เตรียม “บีบ” ให้ผู้ใช้ Messenger เวอร์ชั่นเก่าเปลี่ยนไปใช้ Windows Live Messenger 8.1

โดยผู้ใช้ Windows XP และ Windows Vista ที่ยังใช้ IM ตัวเก่าอย่าง MSN Messenger 6.2 MSN Messenger 7.0 MSN Messenger 7.5 Windows Live Messenger 8.0 จะถูกระบบบีบให้ทำการอัพเกรดเป็น WLM 8.1 ทันทีที่ sign in เหตุผลมาจากช่องโหว่ใน MS07-054 

We will soon configure the service such that any user on Windows XP or later system has to use Windows Live Messenger 8.1. When a user using an older version of Messenger tries to login, the client will help the user with a mandatory upgrade to Messenger 8.1.

ส่วนผู้ใช้ Windows 2000 ไมโครซอฟท์ปล่อย MSN Messenger 7.0 เวอร์ชั่นใหม่ให้ทำการอัพเกรดเมื่อหลายวันที่ผ่านมา ส่วนผู้ใช้ Windows 98 และอื่นๆ ไมโครซอฟท์ตัดหางปล่อยวัดแล้ว ไม่ซัพพอร์ตแล้ว สำหรับท่านที่ใช้ WL Messenger 8.1 กับ 8.5 ไม่ได้รับผลกระทบจากช่องโหว่ดังกล่าว
